“INODYSSEY” – a construction, meaning both “In Odyssey”, a journey between distant locations and “Inner Odyssey” an inner personal journey. For some, these two journeys often unfold simultaneously, intricately intertwined and never-ending.
This exhibition brings together eight artists with diverse cultural heritages originating in Afghanistan, Lebanon, Palestine, Türkiye, UAE and Ukraine. Working both in the UK and Turkey their migrant and refugee backgrounds allow their work to move across borders of language, memory, and form. In the process of weaving their personal histories with new experiences, they shape complex narratives of identity and belonging. Instead of telling one story about migration, INODYSSEY creates space for many voices and ways of belonging to be felt and shared. Together, the exhibition and programme invite audiences to reflect on intertwined inner and outer journeys of displacement and belonging, transforming personal stories into shared conversations across borders, so transcending borders through storytelling.
The project began with long roots and lived experience, gradually expanded by unearthed stories that turn alienation into understanding, indifference into solidarity, and obscurity into compassion. Through a constellation of multidisciplinary works, this exhibition offers a polyphonic chorus of voices, each reflecting the artists’ deeply personal expressions while opening up to new conversations.
Inodyssey will be a safe environment for genuine cultural interaction, offering a public programme of participatory workshops and artist talks grounded in dialogue and exchange, a place where new networks and shared experiences can emerge. Visitors are invited to unearth and exchange layers of personal and collective memory, and share ideas that make us all re-think and reflect.
