Glass House Variations presents a new body of work exhibited across all three galleries. Central to the exhibition is Taylor’s speculative concept, OS_Iris, a super-advanced operating system: an all-seeing presence that speaks to the rise of AI and its impact on society. Poised at the brink of this evolutionary repositioning, Glass House Variations hints towards conceptual questions around redundancy in art, and the capacity for synthetic sentience.

Amidst this technological tension, Taylor’s handmade approach feels like an act of resistance, incorporating elements of drawing, printmaking, free stitching and appliqué. The tactile layering of appropriated imagery and materials weave themes of transparency, technology, and a personal journey navigating neurodiversity.
The work embraces glitch and errors, asserting the irreplaceable gesture of the human hand. Informed by ancient myth, themes of metamorphosis and rebirth permeate the works, suggesting that this technological shift may also open new paths for creativity. Through the use of home built mechanical devices for the application of paint, Taylor incorporates elements of ‘machine mark making’ to assert a human presence in an increasingly coded world.
Glass House Variations presents a raw and multi-dimensional visual language that grapples with self-understanding, navigating the relationship between visibility and concealment. The intricate construction process challenges traditional boundaries of painting, utilising materials in unexpected ways, aggregating the fragmented, and exposing interconnections to reflect the rapidly changing human experience.
